Janet Schilling created the Dr. Dodson House Bed & Breakfast after moving in 1993 to Saint Michaels from California, where she maintained a private civil litigation law practice. She fell in love with the house and set about to attend to significant deferred maintenance and make it into the welcoming inn that it is today.

One of the major reasons to move to Saint Michaels was to be able to pursue a love of sailing, gardening and cooking. Janet has been personally involved in many of the home improvements and restorations at the inn including design, framing, tile work, trim carpentry, designing/building cabinets and bookshelves, laying brick walkways and the courtyard, and even a little plumbing. The gardens have been recognized by the America in Bloom organization for their contribution to the beautification of the town. Janet has enjoyed the local sailboat races since 1994 as skipper of her C&C30. Guests have been the happy beneficiaries of her cooking skills at the inn since its inception.

The reward for all the hard work is knowing how much guests over the years have enjoyed their time at Dr. Dodson House and their visit to this wonderful little town. We all need a respite from life's daily challenges. Come, relax and enjoy!
